Overview

Jeffersons Bar-B-Que, located at 1200 Malvern Ave in Hot Springs, Arkansas, offers an authentic slice of Southern barbecue culture through a unique food truck setup. This isn’t your typical dine-in spot; with no indoor seating available, patrons are encouraged to enjoy their meals on the go, in their cars, or at nearby outdoor spaces. It’s a destination for those who appreciate hearty, generous portions and crave genuine, down-home barbecue.

The main attraction here is the variety of sandwiches—most notably the Rib Sandwich, Pulled Beef Sandwich, and Pulled Pork Sandwich—all served with ample sauce and cole slaw, creating a messy but satisfying meal best eaten with a fork. The barbecue style leans toward sweet, classic sauces that complement the smoky meats without overwhelming them. Jeffersons’ ribs have earned high praise, though availability can fluctuate given the food truck nature, so early arrival is advised.

While the ribs and pulled beef stand out as crowd favorites, the menu also offers a solid lineup of smoked and chopped meats, like beef and pork sandwiches, as well as traditional barbecue sides such as baked beans and coleslaw. Sides like cheese fries and onion rings are available, but they tend toward the standard rather than the extraordinary—good for a quick bite but not the highlight of the meal.

The experience at Jeffersons Bar-B-Que is informal but steeped in genuine Southern hospitality. Owners and staff are known for their friendliness and attentiveness, adding warmth to the straightforward, unpretentious setting. Many customers return not just for the quality of the food but also for the reliable and personable service, whether ordering from the truck or arranging catering for larger gatherings.

For those who have grown up with barbecue or for newcomers eager to explore, Jeffersons strikes a balance between authenticity and accessibility. Its food truck format draws in locals and visitors alike who value an honest barbecue experience without frills. Catering services further extend its appeal, providing hearty, plentiful portions delivered hot and fresh, ideal for family events or casual get-togethers.

In essence, Jeffersons Bar-B-Que captures the spirit of Southern barbecue with a straightforward menu focused on smoky meats and signature sandwiches, delivered with generous portions and genuine care. The lack of seating and sometimes limited availability of certain items may steer some toward early visits and takeout, but for barbecue enthusiasts craving real flavor and friendly service in Hot Springs, this spot hits the mark.

Jefferson's BBQ is one of my husband and mines favorite bbq places to get in Hot Springs since moving here in 2020. Their food is always mouth watering & the service impeccable. We hired them this summer to cater our family get together and everyone was blown away by the food! We ordered for 15 people, but it could've fed 30 people easily. We had so much left over that I shared with our neighbors. The catering was very easy and exactly what we wanted, and they even delivered it hot and fresh to our door for our event. Amazing service and food - give them a go for your catering needs or just for your own lunch or dinner! We had the Ribs, Pulled Pork, Baked Beans, and Coleslaw for our catering.

Note that this is not a restaurant per se, it's basically a food truck parked on the side of the road that appears to be in a semi-permanent installation. There are no places to eat anywhere. So if you want to get food it's usually to go or to eat in your car. The portions are very generous, and the people are nice. I personally think the food is a bit hit or miss. When we went they were out of ribs and brisket so we couldn't try those which everybody seems to rave about but we did do the pulled pork and the chopped beef sandwich. The pulled pork was good, I didn't think it was anything special but my better half thought it was really good. I found the chopped beef sandwich to be substantive but not necessarily distinctive, it didn't taste very smokey, pretty basic. The sauce they use is a pretty boiler plate sweet style that I think is not very distinctive. The most disappointing thing were probably the sides. Coleslaw is average. We got cheese fries that were just regular frozen fried potatoes with nacho cheese sauce poured over them, and the onion rings were also just standard industrial stuff fried with some Cajun seasoning on top of them and we're very greasy. If you get a sandwich you'll probably end up eating it with a fork because it's so big and messy.

Not only is Jefferson a super friendly fella, he makes a wicked good pulled beef sandwich! I’ve been to places like Central BBQ and this place is much better. I would recommend this for lunch, but get there closer to 11 before they sell out. The prices are certainly some of the best I’ve seen in a long time too. My pulled beef sandwich came with Cole slaw and BBQ sauce on it, so it was more of a fork affair than a handheld situation. And as far as I could see, there is no seating there so expect to take the food to go.

Came in from Oklahoma, drove by and could smell the smoke so we knew we had to come back during lunch to try. He was short handed but was worth the wait. They don't skimp on the meat! Wow. Tried the pulled pork and a brisket sandwich. Both were on point. Prices just can't be beat, thanks for the Arkansas BBQ!

Hands down the best catfish! No tartar sauce needed. The seasoning and crispy texture of the catfish were flavorful and had a nice kick to it. Beans, coleslaw and hush puppies were the perfect compliments, also. The only complaint is that they aren’t in Texas so we could enjoy this all the time. Highly recommend Jefferson’s!!
